Hotlin Ompusunggu featured in new book by Stanley Johnson

The work of 2011 Whitley Award winner, Hotlin Ompusunggu, is featured in a new book about wildlife conservation by the environmentalist and politician, Stanley Johnson.

Hotlin’s unique approach to conserving the rainforest habitat of Borneo’s orangutans involves the provision of discounted dental and healthcare to villagers if they stop carrying out environmentally destructive practices and adopt a more sustainable way of life. A former MEP, Stanley Johnson has worked in the European Commission as Head of the Prevention of Pollution division and as Director of Energy Policy. Stanley has been a trustee of the Earthwatch Institute and is currently Chairman of the Gorilla Organisation and an Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme Convention on Migratory Species (CMS).
