2009 Whitley Gold Award winner, Gladys Kalema Zikusoka, has been featured on CNN’s African Voices programme where she talked about her successful work protecting mountain gorillas in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Gladys’s work minimises the risk of exchange of disease between gorillas and people – a real threat in places where they live in close proximity – and ensures that local communities also benefit.
