Rachel Graham speaks during 2015 Ceremony

At the 2015 Whitley Awards Ceremony on 29th April, we were thrilled to hear from 2011 Whitley Gold Award winner Rachel Graham from her marine project site in Belize. Rachel recently received Continuation Funding from WFN and explained to the audience the importance of these further grants for enabling previous Whitley Award winners to have a lasting impact at both the grassroots and often political level.

Over 50% of all Whitley Award winners go on to apply for Continuation Funding which enables the continued growth of projects that are having a real and measurable impact on endangered wildlife and local communities. This is the largest element of our standard grants programme and several winners have received Continuation Funding multiple times. In this way, the charity is able to build long-term relationships with winners who are making a positive difference to conservation.
