2017 Winners hit the headlines

Since returning home over the weekend, the 2017 Whitley Award winners have been getting used to the raised profile which winning a Whitley Award brings.

From TV appearances and newspaper headlines to crowds greeting them at the airport, this year’s winners are taking the opportunity to talk about their work and to spread some conservation optimism!

Winning a Whitley Award is a moment of great achievement for conservation leaders and for many this is not the end of the journey, but the beginning. Our winners have an entrepreneurial spirit and we have seen many of them go from local and regional success to national and even international impact as the Award can open media, fundraising and political doors.

We are looking forward to keeping in touch with this year’s winners and seeing how their projects develop.

The winners have had some great press coverage and you can view a selection of it below:
The Guardian, 17 May 2017
Mongabay, 19 May 2017
iNews, 19 May 2017

A full PR dossier of all press coverage is being compiled and will be published later in the year.
