A Masterclass from Conservationists on Ingenuity and Hard-Earned Hope for Nature
Introducing WFN’s new podcast series: How to Save It with Kate Humble and Edward Whitley. Available on Apple and Spotify, each episode is a masterclass from conservationists in how to save the rarest of species.
Hear original interviews with the 2024 Whitley Award winners in this 7-episode series, why all species from monkeys to manatees are worth defending and how stubborn optimism can defeat misguided beliefs around storks and owls.
WFN Ambassador Kate Humble and WFN Founder Edward Whitley will take you round the globe and show how women are inspiring local women to lean in to conservation in the most patriarchal of societies; how Indigenous leaders are at the forefront of accelerating the creation of protected areas; and how to restore harmony between people and wildlife as a changing climate forces them into closer contact.
You will hear first-person stories from Purnima, Naomi, Raju, Fernanda, Aristide, Leroy and Kuenzang in each 15-min episode. The series will show how nature can recover thanks to their ingenuity and hard-earned hope.
“Peace with Nature” is the theme at the October COP16 summit in Colombia when world leaders will give updates on their commitment to protect 30 percent of land and sea by 2030. Under the landmark global deal for nature agreed in 2022, countries recognised the essential role that local and Indigenous people play in protecting biodiversity.
How to Save It is available every Friday. First episode drops today. Listen and rate on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
