Our 2020 Whitley Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday 29th April at the Royal Geographical Society, to announce and celebrate this year’s Whitley Award winners – grassroots conservation leaders who are taking action to protect our natural world in their home countries with community support. The Awards – also known as ‘Green Oscars’ – are won competitively following assessment by an expert academic panel and are worth £40,000 in project funding over one year. This year’s Gold Award winner will also be revealed on the night.
The Whitley Awards Ceremony is our flagship event, and is a moment to amplify our call for action to protect the wildlife and wild places upon which we all rely.
The Ceremony is just one of several events which will take place during the week with our group of finalists. From speech and media training, PR opportunities, conflict resolution training, and networking events with our supporters and other NGOs, Whitley Award winners gain new connections and hone their skills to capitalize on the media attention they receive post win, and leverage further funding. Formal invitations will be sent out in early March, with further details about the event. While this event is invite-only, the full ceremony will be live streamed on our YouTube Channel, and you can follow us on social media for updates at @WhitleyAwards.
