WFN is searching for a Head of Partnerships to join our small but committed team as we strive to offer long term, laddered support to courageous changemakers leading local solutions to the global biodiversity and climate crises.

Job Title: Head of Partnerships

Reporting to: Charity Director

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 (+excellent benefits inc. 30 days holiday plus b/hols)

Contract: Full-Time Permanent

Location: West London (Hybrid – 3 days in the office)

WFN is a fundraising and grant-giving nature conservation charity that has channelled £23 million to 220 conservation leaders in 80 countries across the Global South, benefitting wildlife, landscapes, and people. The charity is looking for an energetic and passionate individual to play the lead role in establishing, developing, maintaining, and diversifying their donor base to secure significant income for the organisation.

WFN’s existing portfolio of Major Donors is made up primarily of Trusts, Family Foundations and High-Net-Worth Individual (HNWI) supporters, with some Corporates. The Head of Partnerships will be expected to build new income streams with potential to diversify revenue and strengthen the organisation’s support of Whitley Award winners across the Global South. Operating as part of small team of ten staff and reporting to the Director, the post holder will work closely with the Fundraising Officer as their line-manager, and collaborate with the Head of Finance, Head of Grants, and Head of Communications, towards realising organisational aims. The charity maintains close professional relationships with supporters that are bespoke and require excellent interpersonal skills, with most meetings taking place in-person, in central London.

Skills and Experience:

  • Commensurate experience working in similar Fundraising roles, with proven success in securing major donations between £50,000 – £500,000.
  • A strong working knowledge of key issues in conservation and passion for social and environmental equity through grassroots action.
  • Proven experience in private sector fundraising including identifying, establishing, maintaining, and developing relationships with Trusts, Foundations, High-Net-Worth Individuals and Corporates, with successful outcomes.
  • Ability to manage an existing major donor portfolio consisting of ~30 major donors giving between £20k-500k p.a. and ~10 donors giving between £5k-20k p.a.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to create compelling donor communications including reports, proposals, and pitches.
  • Experience of curating and delivering high profile events for a range of stakeholders.
  • A track record of success working to targets and managing budgets.
  • History of working with high-profile Ambassadors.
  • Demonstratable competency in line management.
  • Appetite to raise WFN’s profile by presenting to and networking with key stakeholders and representing the charity at national and international events.
  • Exceptional interpersonal qualities (interface with team members, Trustees, WFN donors, the Palace, Ambassadors, partners, suppliers, international grantees).
