Continuation Funding 2020

UPDATE: Continuation Funding applications for 2020 are now closed.

We are now reviewing this year’s applications and will be in touch with those who applied soon. For more information, please get in touch with us: [email protected]

WFN enables Whitley Award alumni to expand their successful work and bring about lasting change through our Continuation Funding programme. These follow-on grants enable the growth of effective conservation solutions and allow winners to respond to changing needs.

Given the current global crisis, we wish to support our winners now more than ever as they adapt their work to this new reality. So we are excited to introduce a new scheme under this programme, where we will support projects focused specifically on large-scale efforts to deliver nature-based solutions, tackling climate change and biodiversity protection hand-in-hand, and in consultation with communities. Thus, the Continuation Funding programme is offering both Nature-Based Solutions grants alongside the Continuation Funding grants.

Applications are open to previous Whitley Award winners only, and grants are worth up to £100,000 over two years. Often, winners go on to become some of the most influential conservationists in their field, making a difference at both the grassroots and international level.

Over 70% of WFN’s annual grant-giving is distributed through Continuation Funding, enabling the growth of high-impact projects. Last year, a total of £742,000 was awarded to our 2019 Continuation Funding winners.

We’re extremely grateful to the donors who have chosen to give exclusively to our Continuation Funding programme. Our winners tell us the ability to re-apply for funds when they need them is a vital source of long term support.
