The Trustees of Whitley Fund for Nature invite you to join HRH The Princess Royal and Sir David Attenborough on Wednesday 12 May at 7pm BST to meet the new Whitley Award winners and Gold Award recipient, at an online ceremony hosted live by Tom Heap and Kate Humble.

Whitley Award winners are courageous changemakers, working with communities to conserve wildlife and habitats across the Global South.

For many of us, COVID-19 – a zoonotic disease spread to humans from exploited wild animals – has been our first direct experience of the climate and biodiversity crises. This year offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take action: as world leaders prepare to renew environmental commitments at forthcoming global summits, Whitley Award winners are the grassroots changemakers turning political ambitions into a green reality.

“Now we need you to come together across continents and support them.” WFN Trustee, Sir David AttenboroughJoin the roots to recoverWhitley Awards are prestigious prizes providing funding, training and profile. After a global search, there are now just 15 candidates left in the running; meet our shortlist here.

We will also reveal the winner of the 2021 Gold Award – our top prize for Whitley Award alumni who have gone on to make an outstanding contribution to conservation.
