One donation, twice the impact for grassroots conservation
At a critical time for nature, the need for conservation funding is at an all-time high.
From 12pm BST 22–29 April, every donation to Whitley Fund for Nature will be matched through Big Give’s Earth Raise (formerly Green Match Fund) – meaning your gift goes twice as far for the planet this Earth Month.
Humanity is facing unprecedented loss of species, accelerating climate change, and large-scale habitat destruction. Human activity has severely altered 75% of terrestrial and 66% of marine environments, and 1 million species are at risk of extinction. At Whitley Fund for Nature, we find, fund and support grassroots conservation leaders across the globe as they work with communities to protect our planet and its wildlife.
By channeling resources and support to those best placed to lead solutions, we can address the crisis facing our natural world sustainably and at pace, building a future where nature and people thrive.
We’re aiming to raise £200,000 for Continuation Funding to support our global network of conservationists driving lasting change. These follow-on grants, worth up to £100,000 over two years, enable sustainable expansion of locally-led projects halting biodiversity loss.
In 2025, we awarded £1.2 million in Continuation Funding to 16 outstanding conservationists from 13 countries scaling up proven solutions. Together their projects cover 11.6 million hectares of habitat across 16 countries, protect 27 focal species, benefit at least 35,000 individuals, and will reach more than 16,000 people through public awareness campaigns.
