One donation, twice the impact

We are thrilled to have reached our goal of raising £100,000 through the Big Give Christmas Challenge!

During the first week of December contributions to WFN from 52 donors were match funded, totalling £100,000: a significant collective win for wildlife conservation.

A huge thank you to everyone who came together, at a time when more funding for impactful, scalable and socially-just solutions to the environmental crises is urgently needed.

Big Give Christmas Challenge

SITUATION

In recent years, our natural world has come under increasing pressure. The planet is facing unprecedented loss of species, accelerating threats from climate change, and large-scale habitat destruction. As these interconnected challenges grow, we face causing irreversible damage to the natural processes that support our existence. Yet, less than 4% of UK philanthropic funding goes towards environmental issues. We believe that this can and must change.

SOLUTION

WFN supports wildlife conservationists who are leading local solutions in their home countries. The £100,000 we have raised together through the Big Give Christmas Challenge will help to support our 2022 Continuation Funding winners: Whitley Award alumni who are poised to scale-up successful projects. In 2021, these Continuation Funding recipients are benefitting over 623,411 people across 236,496km2 of the Global South, by helping species from Sri Lankan leopards to Andean bears.
